BCTI
The Business Career Training Institute has suddenly closed its doors. Students showed up yesterday morning to empty buildings and locked doors, most without any warning.
Laws in Washington and Oregon state that a school must allow students still involved in courses to finish their classes before closure. I believe it also requires provision to be made for finishing their degree program, but I'm not sure about that. Needless to say, this will be a devastating blow to most of the students, even if they do get their money back or their loans forgiven.
It will be interesting to watch what the DOE and BCTI's accreditation agency have to say about how much they were aware of in advance, and what they could have done about it. This closure is tragic for the students and employees too, probably, but does give me an opportunity to talk a little about accreditation and its importance and limitations in a future post.
I was an employee for three years and am happy to see that they are not able to take advantage of people anymore.
It will be interesting to see what the state does to prevent this sort of thing from happening again...

Wow , were to begin, I was a student at the BCTI campus in Fife WA I belive in 97 or 98 for 31 to 32 days. I with drew from their program due to my left hand being in cast from surgery. I was told I could till complete the course with one hand, however I was not able to keep up with the typing requirements. So I told the school I was with drawing from school and they said no problem. Well the two loans they helped me get are now in default due to BCTI keeping the money and never returning the loans. Do you have any advise on were to go for help.
